Setting Proper Fitness Goals!

So I don’t bore you, I am going to get right to the point; PROPER HEALTH IS MANDATORY!

Now you don’t have to take care of yourself if you don’t want to, but when you do that you are basically saying you don’t care if you live long or not.

Now I know there are people out there that have been smoking all their lives and eat like crap and never work out and end up living to be a hundred years old, but those people are few and far between and if you want want to take that chance you go right ahead and try.

For those of us that are serious about our health, I have a few tips and tricks you can use to start setting some proper fitness goals.

The one thing I want to confess is that I have not worked out consistently for over three months. But you see, that is the reason I am making this post. I think that it is imperative to work out EVERY day.

So because of my laziness, I have recently started my running regiment again which brings me to my first fitness tip.

Tip #1: Set Proper Expectations

-If you are a hundred pounds over weight and think you can lose it all within a couple of months, you are crazy. There are certain surgeries and medical procedures out there that can eliminate your weight pretty fast, but I think they are garbage.

If you really want to lose weight you have to do it the right way; the healthy way. One thing I recommend to you is to set a goal that causes you to stretch but is not impossible.

For example, if you are 100 pounds over weight then you might want to spread the loss of that weight over 10 or 12 months. This way you are loosing it in a healthy manner.

Never set you goals to high or hard at first. When you do that, you get frustrated and things go wrong. Keep it simple and stick with it.

Tip #2: Turn Your Big Goal Into A Small Goal

So with using the above example of loosing 100 pounds in ten months, lets break it down. My advice would be to break the 100 pounds into a monthly, daily, and hourly goal.

The reason for this is so you know exactly what you have to do down to the hour.

So here is what it would look like.

100 pounds in ten months

-10 pounds a month

-0.33 pounds a day

-0.013 pounds an hour

I know when you break it down that much it seems a little over kill but you need to do it. If you feel it’s to much then you can just break it down by the day.

Tip #3: Stay Disciplined

Since I have started running again, I have been running in some pretty crazy stuff. Rain, cold, wind, you name it. No snow yet but it’s coming.

There has been days when I really didn’t feel like running at all. I actually hated every minute of it the first time I went back out. My back hurt, my legs hurt and my entire body ached for several days. Those couple days really reminded me of why people never follow through with work out goals.

So if you are going to go out and start a workout routine, do the listed steps above. You will feel better and you will have a hell of a lot better chance of completing your goal.

So stick with it and remember, STAY FOCUSED!
