Boredom: How to Remove It
This is certainly a topic a lot of people are interested in. I myself find it hard to stay awake when I am bored or disinterested in a subject. What I did was research a few ways to remove boredom from your life. I practiced these three tips and they helped me remove the monotony of my sometimes boring life. So follow along and get rid of that boredom.
Tip 1 – Lie to Yourself
Now Matt why are you telling me to lie to myself? Well the reason for this is simple. If you find yourself in a situation that is far from interesting simply lie to yourself and see how fast it turns around. Say you are learning about a subject that you simply cannot stand. Let’s say History. Well during the instructors lecture instead of wondering when the class is going to be over tell yourself that this is the most interesting class you have ever been too. Actually move forward in your seat and actually get physically involved. Within five minutes or less you will start to find yourself interested in what the professor is saying. You will become more alert and your overall intake of the information will increase. So the next time you are in a situation you hate, lie to yourself. Tell yourself that you would rather be here than anywhere else. I guarantee you will see the difference within minutes.
Tip 2 – Rid Yourself of Worry, Frustration, and Resentment
By trying to rid yourself from these three things you will also notice boredom leaving too. If you worry about something or resent someone or something you often because tired and bored. The reason for this is because worry, frustration, and resentment use more of your energy than anything else. If you use the tips I explained in “How to Stop Worrying“ you will surely find some ways to not only rid yourself from boredom but also the ever so dreadful worry bug. So try and keep your mind clean and free from worry and you will notice a significant decrease in the amount of boredom you encounter.
Tip 3 – Do Things you Enjoy Doing
When all else fails and you still find boredom creeping in, do something you like. What I mean by this is simply working a job you like or partaking in a hobby that interests you. These simple things will help you dramatically. Pick up a book or take a class on something that you have always wanted to do. You will find yourself engrossed in what you are learning and boredom will have no room to enter.
The bottom line is to stick with things you like doing and to avoid the things you cannot stand. If you are in a position where you have to stay working where you are, then make the most of it and lie yourself into liking it. It is a psychological fact that pretending to like something will actually produce the same mental effects as if you were generally interested in what you were doing. So stay positive and keep your mind on what really matters; POSITIVE THOUGHTS.
