How to Relax: Five Simple Ways

stress-manDo you ever find yourself looking for ways to relax after a busy day at work?

I cannot tell you how many times I have finished my day only to be totally stressed out.

Believe it or not, people sometimes find it difficult to relax and calm down after a busy day of work.

Below I have five ways you can relax AFTER a hard days work.

reading1.) Read a Book – Have you ever found yourself nodding off while reading the paper or a book? I have, and the sole reason for it is relaxation. It is scientifically proven that reading causes almost instant relaxation. I know that some people don’t like reading but it is something I feel all people should partake in at least a few hours a week.

2.) Watch a Movie – Now this is definitely not the best thing to do next to reading, but it does have it’s benefits. When I am working really late, I put in a movie and immediately start to feel relaxed and calm. The main reason for this is called distraction. While your watching a movie your mind gets engulfed in what’s going on and you start to relax. This is also true while reading a book (hint hint).

3.) Work Out – This is my personal favorite, NOT! I mean come on, howorkoutw many people out there actually like working out? There are the exceptions but most people just hate doing it. Even though it is not on the top ten list of super things to do, it does help you relax. When I get lazy and don’t want to work out, I stretch. Stretching can be hard also, AT FIRST, but it is very beneficial and highly relaxing.

4.) Hobbies – When you get home, do something that you like to do. If you can draw or paint or sculpt, do those things. Maybe you like scrap booking or coloring. I know a few of those are totally lame, but you get the idea. Do something that interests you and go for it.

5.) Do Nothing – If you are the type of person that cannot relax because you have so much on your mind, don’t worry. Sometimes you need to just sit down and watch TV or something. Sometimes less is more. If you have a million things going on, step back and realize that it’s not the end of the world. Grab a piece of paper and start to write things down. If you have to much to do, most likely all it will take is writing your tasks down to relieve a lot of stress.

So there you have it peeps. Doing just one of the things listed above will help your relaxation tremendously. If you have any ides on relaxation, do me a favor and post them in the comment section below.

Good luck and be safe.

Tony Robbins Talks About Sylvester Stalone!

This is an awesome video about Sylvester Stalone’s life, narrated by Tony Robbins.

Tony Robbins goes through the entire story of what Sylvester Stalone did to become successful and how he overcame adversity. Sly went from being homeless to being one of the most sought after actors of his time.

Apparently Tony and Sly hang out a few times and throughout all of their interaction, they became friends. This is truly an inspirational story about how someone can go from nothing, to amazing.

Forgive me for the video being too long, but I didn’t make it. Either way, it is well worth the nine minutes it takes to watch it.

So sit back and gain some motivation from the one and only Tony Robbins.

3 Easy Ways To Stay Fit

With the new year approaching I thought it would be proper to talk about a few resolutions. stay fit

When most people think of resolutions they think of working out and or exercising which is what I am going to talking about today.

I want to give the the top three things I do to keep in shape. Now, I am not the best at this, but it has sure helped accomplish some exercise rather than none.

So here we go…

1.) Stretch – I usually stretch about 10 minutes every day. I am not sure where I read this, but stretching 20 minutes a day for a year can add up to five pounds of muscle to your frame. Not bad for doing nothing but a little stretch in the morning. Not to mention how stretching helps deter bodily injury and pulled muscles. Stretching is a win/win situation.

2.) Drink a Gallon Of Water EVERY DAY! – I “try” to drink a gallon of water EVERY day and nothing else. I mean I don’t drink pop or juice or anything along those lines. Once again, not sure where I read this, but cutting all sugary drinks from your diet will also allow you to lose up to 5 pounds of fat in one year. Now when you drink that much water you will be able to see some drastic changes. Not only will you be using the bathroom a lot more, you will have more energy, your skin will clear up, and you will just feel generally better throughout the day.

3.) Eat 2 Servings Of Fruit and Vegetables Every Day – Now I know you hear this one a lot too but it is something I think you should do. I do my best to eat some fruit and vegetables every day. Even if I cant eat two servings, I try to get something in my system. I was on this kick where I was eating an apple every morning but I stopped because I got lazy and quit. I am not back on that kick and I must say I feel so much better after eating an apple every day. And just to let you know, although fresh veggies and fruit are the best, to save time and money go with frozen stuff. I buy the little bags of frozen vegetables and they seem to be working just fine.

So there you have it. I bet you thought I was going to have you running around the block and doing push-ups and all that crap didn’t you? Well not me. I must admit that exercising is VERY important but it is not EASY. That is why I gave a list of “3 Easy Ways To Stay Fit”.

So go on my children and be fit. If you have any questions about what I published today, send us an e-mail. Be safe, and never give up!

3 Ways To Look More Professional

profWith the economy being the way it is, people everywhere are looking for more work. Countless jobs are being dissolved and people are panicking to find something that can support their families.

The problem is that most people try to get a job by dressing like a homeless person. They wear worn-out clothes and their personal hygiene is a little less than perfect.

Well if you are one of these people then I have a surprise for you. Below I have the top three things you can do to look more professional so you can land that million dollar a year job.

1.) Iron Your Clothes

- When you go to an interview, your first impression is all you have. When your potential boss looks at you, the first thing they immediately do is judge the way you look. They might not even realize that they are doing it, but believe me, they are.

Make sure you iron your clothes before an interview. Even better is to iron your clothes every day. I can admit that I don’t iron my clothes EVERY day but I do when I have an interview or important meeting.

Also, make sure you have a lint brush with you at all times. I keep one in my brief case and it has saved my butt more than I can remember.

2.) Shave/Trim/Wash

- Before you go out on an interview or important meeting, make it a point to practice personal hygiene. BEFORE I leave the house I make sure I leave myself roughly an hour of prep time. I use this time to shave, shower, and clean my body. Use Que-tips for God sake. Shave your face LAST so that the good old 5 o’clock shadow doesn’t come poking it’s way in. For the ladies, you can do the same. You grow hair just like the men so make sure you pay attention and keep everything in check.

Also, when washing, make sure you wash yourself TWICE. You never want to miss anything and smelling/looking good is key to landing that job. People remember how other people smell so keep that in mind.

One last tip for this section; make sure you don’t take a bath in cologne/perfume. A couple sprays will suffice so make sure you smell good but don’t overdo it.

3.) Bring A Resume and Writing Paper With You

- When you get there, the first thing you should do is give your interviewer your resume. The second thing you should do is take good notes. For the most part you are going to be the one answering questions but there is usually a part where you can inquire about the position. When they see you taking notes they will immediately be impressed. Take good notes and bring that resume with you.

So there you have it! This is just a small fraction of the things you can do to look more professional, but there are the things that have worked for mew. To date, I have been interviewed close to 20 times and got hired and or promoted 18 of them. So what I am saying is true. Not to mention that this stuff is extremely easy. So keep it going and remember to be yourself. Good luck!

5 Ways To Stay Positive

Staying positive is one of the most important things you can do as an individual.

With all of the day to day struggles and crap going on, it’s sometimes hard to stay positive and upbeat.

Well I have come up with a list that I think will help you achieve your positivity goal.

Below are 5 ideas I know you can use to stay positive.

1.) Smile – It is scientifically proven that if you smile your body will follow suit and begin to feel better. By smiling you will be able to stay positive, and by staying positive you will begin to improve your life.

2.) Set Goals – It is really hard to stay positive when you have no direction in your life. Set goals! If you don’t like setting yearly goals and monthly goals, set weekly goals. At least you will know what you want to get done through the week, which will allow you to stay focused, relaxed, and positive.

3.) Live In A Day Tight Compartment – What you do tomorrow and what you did yesterday does not matter. What you need to do is stay in the present. You need to remember this, W.I.N – Whats Important Now!. Don’t worry about all the stuff that needs to get done next month or week. What do you have to do now? If you ask yourself that question you will immediately start to feel a lot better and even more positive.

4.) Relax – Now I know you might be saying, “I can I relax when I am stressed out and out of control?” Well that’s exactly why you need to relax and take a deep breath. You need to realize that you will never be able to stay really positive until you can sit back and look at the big picture, and the way you do that is by relaxing. Relax and grow positive!

5.) Be Thankful – If nothing else listed above helps you then do this; be thankful. Sit back and look at all you have to be thankful for. You might not have it the best right now but look at the things you do have. Do you have a place to sleep? Do you have food to eat? Do you have clothes on? Are you healthy, or do you have the choice to be healthy if you want? Are you alive? These are all things I did when I was down in the dumps and it helped me profusely.

So there you have it.

What I would do if I were you is print this off and keep it with you always. Read it every day for a month and see how your attitude changes. They say that a habit is created when you do something for 20-30 days straight. Develop that habit and move towards your dream of a positive life.

Good luck!

Overcoming The Dip

the-dipI am sure that most of you heard of Seth Godin. He is the genius behind the website Squidoo. He also owns www.SethGodin.com and has written several best selling books.

Now the reason I bring him up is because I recently read one of his books titled, “The Dip”.

Now what The Dip talks about is amazing. Basically Seth talks about the hard times you will go through when starting a new project, and how you have to climb the big hill before you can achieve success.

Let me give you an example to make it a little more clear.

How many people out there do you know that have started a workout regiment? I mean these people were telling you that they were gonna work out every day, and lift weights, and stretch, and run and blah blah blah. How many of those people are still working out? I will bet little to none.

Now the reason for this is know as “The Dip”. The dip is the thing every person goes through when starting out on something new.

Your friends were all about the working out thing in the beginning. I bet they bought new shoes and actually stuck with it for a couple weeks didn’t they? Well that was until the reality of what was going on actually kicked in.

It was all down hill at first. They were excited and enthusiastic about it until the excitement went away and they were no longer thrilled to get up at 6AM just to work out. The dip is when people quit.

All I want you to take from this post is simple, before you start something, make sure you are 500% willing to stick with it through the dip before you decide if it is a good idea or not.

I for one used to be a serial quitter. I started more businesses and projects than you can shake a stick at (very old saying, I know). The thing is that I could not got through the dip, nor did I really try. All I liked was the beginning part, the thrill. After all that I basically gave up and moved on to something else. Not anymore!

Now I choose what I do very carefully and never start another project until I have mastered the one I am in now. I stopped several other busnesses I was running and just kept going with the ones I knew I could accomplish by getting through the dip.

So before you go out trying new things and starting all kinds of projects, make sure you know that you are willing to get through the dip before you jump in.

Thanks a lot Seth for the good info, and for those of you that have not read his book yet, GO GET IT! Thanks a lot and good luck!

How Not To Lose Your Keys!

keysSoooooooo, how many of you out there have lost your keys at one time or another?

I am betting that roughly all of you have.

It’s OK because I thought I would make a quick post on how I have eliminated that problem once and for all.

Now pay attention to this because it is REALLY simple.

Step #1 Get a Hook or Nail

-What you want to do here is get a simple hook you can find at a hardware store or pretty much any store. If you cant find a small hook then get a nail. Yes, you heard that right, a nail. Now take your hook or nail and put it somewhere that is close to the door that you leave/enter in. That’s it for step one. Easy huh?

Step #2 Put Your Keys On This Hook/Nail EVERY Day!

-This is by far the hardest part of never forgetting your keys. The hard part is not putting your keys on the hook, it’s remembering to put them there. Now, this is going to take somewhere along the lines of 20 days for you to develop the habit of putting your keys on a hook, but it is well worth it.

I know this is sooooo stupid and silly but it works. I know where my keys are ALL THE TIME.

When I leave I grab them from the hook and when I get home I put them back.

I am never wasting time looking for my keys.

And speaking of time, the average person spends close to 20 minutes looking for their keys.

If you lose your keys twice a month at an average of 20 minutes per time, you are wasting 480 minutes a year or 8 hours. That is a whole work day that you could have spent making money instead of looking for keys. I’m just sayin…

Setting Proper Fitness Goals!

So I don’t bore you, I am going to get right to the point; PROPER HEALTH IS MANDATORY!

Now you don’t have to take care of yourself if you don’t want to, but when you do that you are basically saying you don’t care if you live long or not.

Now I know there are people out there that have been smoking all their lives and eat like crap and never work out and end up living to be a hundred years old, but those people are few and far between and if you want want to take that chance you go right ahead and try.

For those of us that are serious about our health, I have a few tips and tricks you can use to start setting some proper fitness goals.

The one thing I want to confess is that I have not worked out consistently for over three months. But you see, that is the reason I am making this post. I think that it is imperative to work out EVERY day.

So because of my laziness, I have recently started my running regiment again which brings me to my first fitness tip.

Tip #1: Set Proper Expectations

-If you are a hundred pounds over weight and think you can lose it all within a couple of months, you are crazy. There are certain surgeries and medical procedures out there that can eliminate your weight pretty fast, but I think they are garbage.

If you really want to lose weight you have to do it the right way; the healthy way. One thing I recommend to you is to set a goal that causes you to stretch but is not impossible.

For example, if you are 100 pounds over weight then you might want to spread the loss of that weight over 10 or 12 months. This way you are loosing it in a healthy manner.

Never set you goals to high or hard at first. When you do that, you get frustrated and things go wrong. Keep it simple and stick with it.

Tip #2: Turn Your Big Goal Into A Small Goal

So with using the above example of loosing 100 pounds in ten months, lets break it down. My advice would be to break the 100 pounds into a monthly, daily, and hourly goal.

The reason for this is so you know exactly what you have to do down to the hour.

So here is what it would look like.

100 pounds in ten months

-10 pounds a month

-0.33 pounds a day

-0.013 pounds an hour

I know when you break it down that much it seems a little over kill but you need to do it. If you feel it’s to much then you can just break it down by the day.

Tip #3: Stay Disciplined

Since I have started running again, I have been running in some pretty crazy stuff. Rain, cold, wind, you name it. No snow yet but it’s coming.

There has been days when I really didn’t feel like running at all. I actually hated every minute of it the first time I went back out. My back hurt, my legs hurt and my entire body ached for several days. Those couple days really reminded me of why people never follow through with work out goals.

So if you are going to go out and start a workout routine, do the listed steps above. You will feel better and you will have a hell of a lot better chance of completing your goal.

So stick with it and remember, STAY FOCUSED!
